Artificial Heart Physicians Plan
(LOUISVILLE, KY) The University
of Louisville surgeons who implanted the world's first self-contained
artificial heart at Jewish Hospital in Louisville on July 2 announced
today that they will hold a news briefing on Tuesday, August 21,
2001, at 2:00 pm EDT. The event will take place in the Conference
Center atop the Rudd Heart and Lung Center on the Jewish Hospital
The news conference agenda will include an update
by Drs. Laman Gray and Rob Dowling and the first public appearance
by the recipient of the AbioCor himself.
The patient continues to express his gratitude to
the media and the public for respecting his privacy and that of
his family. He requests the media continue this respect until he
offers his personal information at the briefing.
The news conference will be up-linked live via satellite
coordinates Ku-Band SBS 6, Transponder 7, Horizontal Frequency 11872
MHZ. The audio frequency is 6.20/6.80. The signal will be available
from 1:45 - 3 p.m. (EDT), Tuesday, August 21.
The patient will make his comments from a remote location.
For best quality picture and sound of his remarks, media outlets
